Margaret Goeden

Margaret is an American-born artist, in her 10th year of living in Hong Kong. Working out of her Stanley Market studio, she paints primarily in oils, but also enjoys sketching in soft pastel and Chinese ink, for their immediacy, richness, and ease of use while travelling.

Trained initially in the plein-air landscape tradition of California, Margaret loves painting outdoors & finds inspiration in the natural world. She also roots her creative process in a contemplative zen practice, whether making pieces that are representational or abstract. Her subjects vary from pure abstraction to portraits, still lives, or landscapes of the places she loves, like Hong Kong & Big Sur, CA. Her work can be found in private collections in North America, Europe, Hong Kong, South Africa & Singapore.
